The tournament consists of Singles and Doubles, making it one of the most exciting tennis tournaments of the year. This year round, top tennis players like Monte Carlo, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Andy Roddick have been announced in the singles tournaments, along with several others, followed by the Doubles which will be decided later. Each player has his own achievements, making this event one of the most thrilling tennis tournaments of the year. Monte Carlo has been headlined as the World’s No. 1 Beijing Olympic gold medallist and also holder of French Open and Wimbledon tennis trophies. Rafael Nadal is known as Hamburg and Toronto Masters as well as the Barcelona and London champion, making him one of the toughest players in the game. Who can forget THAT Wimbledon men’s singles final? In years to come, we may look back at the history books and determine that it was on Sunday 6th July that signaled the changing of the guard for the title of world’s greatest tennis player, as Rafael Nadal finally became the first man to beat Roger Federer on grass, and end his 59-match unbeaten run. It was truly a Wimbledon epic and worthy of any Grand-Slam tournament final, and will live long in the memory for many years to come. With all this excitement, tennis is set to be one of the hot sports of the summer and not just for the British who suddenly find themselves with both ladies’ and men’s hopefuls for the future. We can look forward to more thrilling matches from Andy Murray and his brother Jamie, who are competing together in the men’s doubles in the upcoming B … Tags: Andy Murray, Brother Jamie, Excitement, Fashion, First Man, Grand Slam Tournament, Grass, History Books, Hopefuls, Hot Sports, Match, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Something To Smile About, Talents, Tennis Fans, Tennis Player, Wimbledon, Wimbledon Men, World TennisTrue, he had reached the finals of two grand slams in this period - the French Open and Wimbledon - before losing both matches to world no.2 Rafael Nadal -but, Federer’s overall showing in the tourneys in the earlier half of the year, and post Wimbledon, raises serious questions on the world no.1’s (world no.2 in the next two weeks probably) game and fitness. Roger suddenly appears to have lost his confidence, and his movements on the court slowing down considerably that even lowly ranked players, whom Roger had dispatched so easily few months back, are able to beat him with ease. It appears that the weight of his reputation, coupled with the anxiety of losing, is heavily burdening his mind/game. Recent loses have not helped the matter either. Maybe Roger needs a bit of rest, and time to reassess his game plan. In fact, he himself had admitted that he need to sit back and take a look at his game. But a tighter ATP tour calendar means he would be able to do that only after the US Open … Tags: Anxiety, Atp Tour, Confidence, Fitness Roger, French Open, Game Plan, Loses, Lost, Mind Game, Rafael Nadal, Ranked Players, Reputation, Roger Federer, Tour Calendar, Two Grand Slams, Wimbledon

Australian Open - Contenders For the Men’s TitlePosted by: Mr.Tennis in Interesting SiteIt will be so worth it to see quality matches being played in the court as nothing motivates a tennis player more than to play in a Grand Slam tournament. I have picked the names of four players and assessed their chances, not because they happen to be players occupying the top four rankings but because of their consistent showing that they put on during each tournament they played in. 1. Rafael Nadal - He finally showed the world that he has what it takes to win a major tournament that isn’t played in a clay surface. That epic battle that he had with Roger Federer for the Wimbledon title went down in to the record books as the greatest final ever played. I felt sad for him though, as he pulled out of the season ending Tennis Masters Cup finals due to exhaustion. What concerns me is that even if he is still young, the rigors of having to play in tennis tournaments day in and day out of the highest quality shall take its toll on his health soon. At the moment, questions about his knee … Tags: Australian Open, Clay Surface, Contenders, Epic Battle, Exhaustion, Grand Slam Tournament, Health Questions, Highest Quality, Masters Cup, Names, Rafael Nadal, Record Books, Rigors, Roger Federer, Sad, Tennis Masters Cup, Tennis Player, Tennis Tournaments, Wimbledon, Wimbledon TitleLet’s say you sell tennis balls online and you have three brands available, Slazenger, Wimbledon and Wilson and your webstore is at www.bigballsintennis.com. A mistake would be to call your sales page something like this www.bigballsintennis.com/product1.html www.bigballsintennis.com/product2.html www.bigballsintennis.com/product3.html This just tells search engines that you sell products! What you want to do is use the keywords for the main search terms you want that page to show up for in search engines. The French Open takes place in early June, and then a fortnight later comes the mighty Wimbledon, the tournaments of tournaments in the tennis world. Tennis is watched and played all over the world, and it’s this popularity that you tap into for your profit. Niche marketing means that you focus on a certain group of people who have the same interest. Sport is great for this, because each sport can be a niche in itself, and can also be broken down into subniches. For example, tennis fans like to buy merchandise, maybe you could sell Wimbledon towels or umbrellas, or how about posters of the big stars? (sports posters are a big seller). You could start your own site and provide these goods yourself, but it’s much more efficient to use the affiliate model, which means you send traffic to sites already selling the goods, and make commission on any sales. The affiliate model had made many fortunes online. Tennis has plenty of other routes to profit. There is a market for tickets to the b … Tags: Affiliate Model, Buy Sell, Focus, Fortnight, Fortunes, French Open, Niche Marketing, Popularity, Sport, Sports Posters, Stars, Tap, Tennis Fans, Tennis World, Towels, Traffic, Umbrellas, Wimbledon, World TennisS. Opens in a row as he has … in this day of top competition and top pressure, a stupendous feat. He doesn’t have the best serve in the game, the best backhand, the best forehand, the best speed, the most power, etc. But he’s so good in all these categories … with no weaknesses … and coupled with his impassive demeanor, there’s never been a better all-around player. The coming year, with superbly talented guys in the top four, and all four capable of beating each other, and with Federer gunning to tie Pete Sampras’ record of 14 Slam titles, promises to be the best ever. The numbers in parentheses stand for Grand Slam titles won and runnersup. 1. Roger Federer (13,4). No other modern player has excelled on all three surfaces as Federer has, participating in three finals each at the Australian and French, six at Wimbledon and five at the U.S. Open. He holds the record of being ranked No. 1 for 237 weeks, breaking Jimmy Connors’ record of 160 for men and Steffi Graf’s 186 for women. … Tags: Demeanor, Game, Grand Slam Titles, Jimmy Connors, Parentheses, Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, Steffi Graf, Surfaces, Tennis Players, Wimbledon, World Men, World Tennis

Grand Slam Tennis - Hits and Misses in the Women’s DrawPosted by: Mr.Tennis in Interesting SiteThe women’s side has produced the biggest upset at the time I wrote this. Top seed Jelena Jankovic lost her fourth round match and received a straight sets thrashing from Frenchwoman Marian Bartoli, 1-6, 4-6. Jankovic’s exit follows the path of fellow Serb Ana Ivanovic who was the fifth seed and Venus Williams who was the sixth. But unlike the two, Jankovic’s conqueror has better credentials, someone who can beat the top seed at any given day as long as she plays her best tennis. Marion Bartoli, the 16th seed, gained prominence last year at Wimbledon when she reached the final and played against eventual winner Venus Williams. But what made her feat remarkable was the road she took in reaching the finals. She beat the then third seed Jankovic 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 in a match that was stopped many times because of the weather. Her most notable conquest was when she came from behind a set down and defeated the then top seed Justine Henin in the semi-final 1-6, 7-5, 6-1. Dinara Safina battled re … Tags: Ana Ivanovic, Conqueror, Conquest, Credentials, Dinara Safina, Fellow, Fifth Seed, Grand Slam Tennis, Jelena Jankovic, Justine Henin, Marian, Marion Bartoli, Match, Plays, Prominence, Straight Sets, Tennis Women, Venus Williams, Weather, Wimbledon

Will You Be Making Money From Frilly Knickers at Wimbledon 2008?Posted by: Mr.Tennis in Interesting Site.. When I first started watching Wimbledon way back when, everyone played with wooden rackets and the ladies played a gentle game. They wore short dresses, with decidedly frilly knickers peeping out underneath. Nowadays it tends to be huffing, puffing and lots of grunting, with lycra shorts underneath. Some of the women still wear traditional sports clothes, while the top players often seem to be competing in the fashion stakes as much as the tennis! So how do you turn this into profit? Well, you could be an affiliate for sports wear, be it sensible or fashionable! Tennis is played all over the world, and the market for sports clothes is huge! You could maybe set up a site for sporting memorabilia. Tennis is not the biggest sport for merchandise by a long way, but it’s there nonetheless. Another method, and this is the one I like the best, is to simply voice opinion about tennis. One thing sports fans *always* want is a view, because they have one themselves! The huge number of sports … Tags: Affiliate, Fashion Stakes, Frilly Knickers, Gentle Game, Lycra Shorts, Making Money, Peeping, Short Dresses, Sporting Memorabilia, Sports Clothes, Sports Fans, Sports Wear, Tennis, Traditional Sports, Wimbledon

US Tennis Fans Expecting Roddick to Rescue the US TennisPosted by: Mr.Tennis in Interesting SiteThis week’s tournament the Countrywide Classic, Andy has been seeded as the number six. Many believe Roddick still has lots to give to the tennis world and especially to the United States but he does not seem to be on the right track as after reaching the number one spot in 2003 he has not able to be in the number one spot once again. That same year Roddick achieved his maiden Grand Slam in New York City. Right after this period Roger Federer became the world number one and the Spaniard Rafael Nadal the world number two in the ATP circuit. One of the reasons Roddick quickly descended from the top position was the fact that he lost in three Grand Slam finals during Wimbledon in 2004 and 2005 and the U.S. Open in 2006 to the Swiss master Roger Federer. Nevertheless, Roddick has incredible potential but he has not been able to find the right coach to achieve more titles. For the moment, Andy Roddick is the highest ranked American tennis player currently placed in the 6th position.
