To stay out of trouble, my friend and I decided to learn to play tennis. I purchased each of us a $5.00 wooden racket, and we went to the tennis court. Our tennis shoes cost about as much as our tennis rackets, shorts and a t-shirt was the tennis wear of the day, and we collected coke bottles to purchase our tennis balls. Getting time on the tennis courts back then took longer than today. Everyone was playing; waiting for a court (there was an abundance of outdoor courts and no indoor courts where I lived), could take up to a couple of hours; but we were persistent, and we waited. When we first started playing, we hit balls everywhere. The people playing next to us had to be the most patient people in the world. Chasing balls was what we really did for awhile, but soon we got where we could actually hit a rally. Then we got where we could play for points. Then, we started play other people, and eventually could pretty good. We joined a league which used the ladder challenge system ( y … Tags: Abundance, Coke Bottles, Court Shoes, Indoor Courts, Ladder Challenge, Outdoor Courts, Rally, T Shirt, Tennis Balls, Tennis Court, Tennis Courts, Tennis Rackets, Tennis Shoes, Tennis Shorts, Tennis Wear

Wii Sports Gaming Guide - Be Sure to Get a Winning Strike!Posted by: Mr.Tennis in Interesting SiteWell, if you have a Wii, you will know that Wii Sports is far from dull. It’s actually great fun, and it’s still one of my favourite games for the Wii. Wii Sports is so simple that anybody can play it. Whether you’re 3 or 103, you are bound to love this game. The onscreen gameplay instructions are really clear, anybody can do it! What’s more, when you play Wii Sports, you really get a feel of being in the bowling alley or tennis court for real. The sound effects and scenery details are pretty authentic, making the whole casual gaming experience much more fun! For the Baseball, Tennis and Boxing games, the game is played by the hand and arm movements that you make whilst holding the Wiimote and/or nunchuck. For the Bowling and Golf games, you will also need to make the movements that you would if you were playing the games ‘for real’, coupled with one or two presses on the Wiimote buttons. It’s as easy as 123. Savvy Tip! Are you having trouble getting strikes in Wii Sports Bowling? As the match continued, there were many opportunities for us to pull ahead, because we were the stronger team. There were numerous multiple deuce games and many long points. Both women on the other side had a maddening habit of hitting the balls that had rolled off the court high up in the air first to one side and then to the other without aim…causing the server to run back and forth along the back fence in between points. We actually discovered after the match that they had been doing this on purpose and were laughing as we ran. In the second set, we were up 4-1 but continued to let our annoyance beat us. Each time we gave them a point through an unforced error, the more offensive of the two women would say, “Yes!” and pump her fist in the air…as if they had slammed down a putaway shot. Anna Kournikova - Professional Tennis’ Unique Sex Symbol SuperstarPosted by: Mr.Tennis in Interesting SiteWhile women athletes have long since been idolized and respected, very few female sports stars have claimed the mantel of being popular due to their looks. Much of this has changed with the arrival of Anna Kournikova on the professional tennis scene. Yes, she has many fans who love her for her performances on the tennis court. Then, there is the multitude of males who never watched tennis matches in their life; but, they become attentive spectators when an Anna Kournikova match is on television. They also show their fervor by searching for online Anna Kournikova pictures with great abandon as well! Yes, Anna Kournikova’s popularity and superstar status is deeply based on her looks and sex appeal far more than her accomplishments on the tennis court. Let the truth be told, Anna Kournikova is a solid yet not spectacular tennis star. Her overall ratings in singles tennis peaked at #8 and her main success has been primarily in doubles matches. This article will take a look at a few possible suggestions for finding the right retirement community that fits you best. Some of the most popular retirement activities are golfing, bowling, tennis, racquetball and shuffleboard. If this is your idea of an active sport then you will want to make sure that you have these amenities either in your retirement community or nearby. You may find that it’s much more affordable to find a nice active adult retirement community. That is nearer some your more popular areas like the golf course and tennis court. If you end up in a community that has these with on the premise in their private you’re going to pay a much higher fee. If money is of no concern and of course you should probably look to find a retirement community perhaps in the state of Florida or California that might accommodate you in your activities. Some Of The Basics You Should Know To Coach TennisPosted by: Mr.Tennis in Interesting SiteFirst, before you make a solid commitment to either play or coach tennis there are some things that you should know first. Many who may not even be attracted to the game of tennis itself are still intrigued by the history of it. Tennis or at least versions of tennis can be traced back to ancient Greek civilizations. Many of those cultures enjoyed the sport for literally centuries. Of course, it is unlikely that they called it tennis as that was not dubbed until 1874 which is also when it became a common game worldwide. First the French tool a liking to it, then the people from Portugal, then England, and from there it flourished. The game of tennis is played in what is called a “court.” The dimensions of this court are standard 78×27. Normally a tennis court is made of a clay like or concrete playing area that is required for the game to be played correctly. The court is literally divided in half by a net and one player is on each side of the net. Each player holds what is called a ra … Tags: Ancient Civilizations, Ancient Greek Civilizations, Centuries, Coach, Cultures, England, Game, Liking, People, Portugal, Ra, Sport, Tennis Court, Tool

Can Your Child Work Through Their Frustrations Without You? YES, They Can!Posted by: Mr.Tennis in Interesting Site.. If the child gets injured, or falls, or something doesn’t go their way, they look for comfort and understanding in the arms of their parents. We, as parents, want to help our children. However, as a tennis coach (and parent), I have witnessed too many players misbehaving on the tennis court. Often, it is just a simple error that triggers the frustration or meltdown. Consistently, the children tend to be more “dramatic” when parents are present; the parents’ good intentions ultimately create future setbacks. Sometimes it is easy to forget that the mistake (or problem) can actually teach our children a whole lot more in the long run. If they miss a shot or lose a point, they try to seek comfort and understanding from their parents by looking towards them. Or on occasion, pretending that they are sick or perhaps injured… When their parents are not present, they learn to understand that when problems occur, the only way to deal with them is by handling these problems by themselves…! … Tags: Child Work, Frustration, Frustrations, Good Intentions, Meltdown, Mistake, Occasion, Parents, Setbacks, Tennis Coach, Tennis Court, Whole Lot

Dunlop Tennis Championship All Court Tennis Balls - CanPosted by: Mr.Tennis in Tennis Balls
It can seem otherwise, but we just get one day. Our life is like a calendar and living fully each day fills it to the brim. In so much of our time, it seems to me, our attention moves to the past, rummaging around looking for answers or pulling up past ways of doing something. Then too it jumps to the future into our hopes and dreams. Again, this takes us away from the only time we’ve got, the day that is here now. But, if we could settle it right here in this moment we would be more effective at whatever we are doing and feel more satisfied as well. It is a matter of keeping our energies together and focused. But how to do it? When I taught tennis I could see a person’s life patterns played out on the tennis court. It was easy to see focus change from what they were doing to what they did or what they wanted to do or even what they wanted from what they were doing. A person’s play was the best when the attention was poised right in the present. Many teachers know this truth, whether … Tags: Brim, Calendar, Focus Change, Hopes And Dreams, Life Patterns, Tennis Court, Today Is The Day, Truth, Ve Day
