Babolat New Pure Drive (Cortex) 107 Tennis Racquet - 1332 Babolat New Pure Drive (Cortex) 107 Tennis Racquet - 1332 An update to the legendary Babolat Pure Drive Team Oversize, the new Pure Drive 107 w/ Cortex utilizes a vibration filter called Cortex at the top of the handle. Cortex is used in several of Babolat’s players racquets to enhance feel by cancelling only the 2 highest vibration frequencies.Only those frequencies that enhance feel are permitted to pass through the Cortex filter.

Other than the addition of the Cortex filter (and a snazzy new paint scheme) Babolat has kept the specifications on this new Pure Drive 107 similar to the outgoing Pure Drive Team Oversize, with a few refinements. The headsize is slightly smaller (107 vs. 110 square inches), and length is reduced to 27.2″ from 27.5″. The Pure Drive Oversize w/ Cortex is now more like a traditional players racquet in the sense that it’s light, stiff, and fairly powerful. Control is improved versus the prior generation Pure Drive Team Oversize.

More effectively categorized as a tweener (between powerful/controlled), the Pure Drive still appeals to a very wide array of players. One of a few racquets that works well at the net, as well as the baseline.

Customer Review: Solid choice for 3.0-5.0 players
I have tried many of the babolat racquets [...] and found that this racquet was one of the most controllable and most powerful. More head space provides a bigger sweet spot and a lighter frame (perfect for beginners) and a bigger trampoline effect when it comes into contact with the ball When your are doing crisp volleys at the net the trampoline effect also improve your shots and control.
The lighter frame also improves your swing speed increasing the spin you put on the ball.

The right racquet will allow you to play with more confidence and consistency. There are a few important elements to consider when choosing the optimum tennis racquet for your needs including the size and shape of the head, weight, balance, length, thickness and the material that the frame is made of. If you want increased power, spin and surface area of the sweet spot, you should choose a larger head size of 107 square inches or more. 100-105 square inches will give you even control and a head of less than 98 square inches will allow you to swing freely and aggressively. Beginners and recreational players may choose a longer racquet than the standard 28 inches providing more reach power and a greater capacity for spin. For a little more control, minimise the length. The heavier the racquet, the more power potential and the easier it is to return an opponent’s powerful shot. These heavier racquets however are more taxing on the player so many beginners choose a lighter racquet to cons …

Head MicroGel Extreme Pro Tennis Racquet Head MicroGel Extreme Pro Tennis Racquet Offering a perfect combination of weight and balance, Head’s MicroGel Extreme Pro prestrung tennis racquet is ideal for today’s faced-paced, aggressive game. It’s no secret that tennis has changed. New techniques have evolved, included expanded use of spin, faster and more aggressive swing styles, and more versatility in footwork and hitting stances. These “modern tennis” techniques can produce huge gains in performance, but also make huge demands on equipment. That’s where MicroGel technology steps in. With the lowest density of any material, Head’s MicroGel is a revolutionary new silicone-based material that’s teamed with stiff and strong carbon composite fibers to create a racquet with incredibly responsive qualities. On ball impact, MicroGel uniformly distributes the impact load around the frame to provide the most rock-solid feel and superior touch ever achieved.

MicroGel isn’t the only improved technology, however. Head’s Extreme Pro racquets also offer an increased head width, which allows the ball to slide further across the string bed to produce unmatched spin. The end result of the improvements is a racquet that’s extremely light, solid, and fast when you swing through the ball. The MicroGel Extreme Pro differs just a bit from the Extreme, with more weight granting even more power to hard hitters.

Specifications

  • Head size: 100 square inches
  • Balance: 12, 2 inches
  • Grip size: 1-5
  • String pattern: 16/19
  • Swing style: L3
  • Length: 27 inches
  • Weight: 11.1 ounces

Customer Review: Great racket bad color
I love this racket. I’m a 4.0 male player. I switched to this racket from a Wilson Hyper Prostaff. Although this racket is heavier than the Wilson, it feels lighter because it is head light, where as the Wilson was head heavy. The color is not what I would have picked however. In fact the only reason I tried this racket is because I thought I was buying the Extreme Team version for my wife (much lighter). So look and read carefully, the markings are very similar.
