Tennis has a great tradition in the United States. The U.S. has won the legendary Davis Cup more than any country in the world. In addition, the United States is the home of Andre Agassi, Michael Chang, Pete Sampras and many other champions in the recent years. He also holds a singles career record of 105-91, one title to his name and a doubles Olympic medal. Despite his hard and constant work his game has suffered major setbacks due to a knee injury. Nevertheless, the young Swiss has proved his talent against players such as: the Argentinean Juan Ignacio Chela, the Russian Marat Safin and the Croatian Ivan Ljubicic. Only this past Saturday at the indoor Malley stadium both Swiss players teamed up to play against the Belgium group made up by; Xavier Malisse and Oliver Rochus for a Davis Cup entry for the 2009 competition. There was indeed a lot of pressure on the players, as we witnessed what they were capable of doing at the Olympics, but during the match it was clear that Federer and Wawrinka we …

This was the first lost of Argentina in 10 years at home in Davis Cup games; however, this was also their first final at home and therefore, the team had great expectations of winning their first David Cup title this time since they were the favorites after the Spanish Rafael Nadal got injured before the final. For its part, Spain won their first title on the road, after having won in 2000 and 2004 against Australia and U.S respectively at home. Verdasco replaced David Ferrer due to injury and the 48th ranked Acasuso replaced the No.9 of the world Juan Mart n Del Potro due to a pull muscle injury he suffered on Friday’s match against Lopez. The game was held in the indoor Islas Malvinas Arena at Mar del Plata in front of more than 11,000 fans. At the beginning of the game, Acasuso started a little nervous by loosing his serve in the fifth game of the first set and making three unforced errors consecutively. But after losing the first set, Acasuso began the second set with more confide …
