True, he had reached the finals of two grand slams in this period - the French Open and Wimbledon - before losing both matches to world no.2 Rafael Nadal -but, Federer’s overall showing in the tourneys in the earlier half of the year, and post Wimbledon, raises serious questions on the world no.1’s (world no.2 in the next two weeks probably) game and fitness. Roger suddenly appears to have lost his confidence, and his movements on the court slowing down considerably that even lowly ranked players, whom Roger had dispatched so easily few months back, are able to beat him with ease. It appears that the weight of his reputation, coupled with the anxiety of losing, is heavily burdening his mind/game. Recent loses have not helped the matter either. Maybe Roger needs a bit of rest, and time to reassess his game plan. In fact, he himself had admitted that he need to sit back and take a look at his game. But a tighter ATP tour calendar means he would be able to do that only after the US Open …

Over the six years of professional play since the 23-years old Wawrinka began his tennis career; he has escalated from the 171 position in 2003 to the 54th place in 2005 to a 36th ranking in 2007, while reaching the top ten in the current ATP Tour. He also holds a singles career record of 105-91, one title to his name and a doubles Olympic medal. Despite his hard and constant work his game has suffered major setbacks due to a knee injury. Nevertheless, the young Swiss has proved his talent against players such as: the Argentinean Juan Ignacio Chela, the Russian Marat Safin and the Croatian Ivan Ljubicic. Only this past Saturday at the indoor Malley stadium both Swiss players teamed up to play against the Belgium group made up by; Xavier Malisse and Oliver Rochus for a Davis Cup entry for the 2009 competition. There was indeed a lot of pressure on the players, as we witnessed what they were capable of doing at the Olympics, but during the match it was clear that Federer and Wawrinka we …

Others might be the people who are in the brink of that one win that can change their tennis careers completely. The names do not really have to follow the seedings that have been released for the tournament. Rather, it is a random name recalling for me, of things that can possibly happen. I shall start off with the ladies first. 1. Elena Dementieva - She has vastly improved over the years. I first noticed her during the all Russian French Open tennis final between her and Anastasia Myskina. Dementieva was only 22 years old. But what struck oddly for me was the quality of tennis being played. Both women were so nervous in the match that they committed errorrs after errorrs. Myskina proved to be the better player as she controlled her nerves and finally won the tennis match. I thought Dementieva was a luck finalist at that time and won’t be seeing her that much. But after she won the women’s singles gold in the Olympics, beating Serena Williams in the semis and Dinara Safina in the fin …

Putting the outfielders through various drills, can help them acquire these skills and keep the skills they already have as sharp as possible. Here then are five drills for softball outfielders to practice. Here then are five drills for softball outfielders to practice. Drill 1-Grapevine Purpose: To improve the footwork, concentration, and catching ability of all fielders while they move in both directions. Procedure: The coach stands about 10 feet in front of a line of players facing her and takes the ball from the first player in line. The coach points to the right. Player turns shoulder and hips to that side and runs perpendicular away from the coach. After about three or four steps, coach points in the other direction. Player, using the crossover step, turns the other direction, still running in a straight line away from the coach, never losing sight of the ball. After another three or four steps, coach points in original direction. Player then repeats previous crossover step and …
